European: Barcelona win Eto'o battle

Samuel Eto'o will be presented as a Barcelona player on Thursday evening after Real Madrid decided not to exercise their option on the striker.

The African Player of the Year, who is part-owned by Madrid and Real Mallorca, had been linked with a move to Liverpool as part of Madrid's bid to sign Michael Owen.

But the Cameroon player's insistence on joining Barcelona gave them little option but to accept the move.
