Gary Megson says it is too early for £3m striker Rob Earnshw to prove to the West Brom fans just how deadly he can be in front of goal.

"Rob has shown flashes of what he can do but he still needs time to settle down," said the Albion manager.

"I saw him score his superb goal for Wales in midweek and that showed that if he gets a chance in front of the target he can find it.

"He is a strong player and when he is at his best he will take some stopping.

"We are looking for him to attack defences more but that will come in time.

"Rob has not really had the chance to make an impact for us so far because of all the international games he has played.

"But there is no doubting the fact that he is going to be a tremendous asset to the club," added Megson.

The former Cardiff City striker is still waiting to open his goal account for Albion after missing a penalty on his debut when he fired his spot-kick high over the crossbar.

But Megson says it will not be long before the goals start to flow from Earnshaw who can become one of the best strikers in top flight football.

Earnshaw though could again be on the bench when Albion take on Norwich City at The Hawthorns this weekend.

Geoff Horsfield partnered Kanu in the West Brom strikeforce in the win over Bolton and Megson could opt to retain a successful line-up.
