New signing Stern John will be looking to make his mark as quickly at Coventry as he did at Nottingham Forest and Birmingham.

The Trinidad & Tobago striker scored on his first appearances for both Forest and Blues and will be aiming to make it a hat-trick of debut goals on Wednesday when Gillingham visit Highfield Road.

With both sides licking their wounds after heavy weekend defeats - Gillingham were thrashed 4-0 at home by Sunderland and Coventry were beaten 3-0 at Peter Reid's former club Leeds - the fixture offers both the opportunity to get their campaigns back on track.

John, who will wear the number 24 shirt, has been included in Reid's squad and would seem sure to feature at some stage.

The 27-year-old cost 200,000.....

Yeah he isn't all that big but he is pretty quick and can turn on a sixpence. I remember when he scored against West Ham. He turned Thomas Repka inside out and fired it pass David James. He will do quite well in the Coca Cola Champions......

Ricard had quite a shot but often than not it was wide of the target.
