Southampton boss Paul Sturrock has raided Notts County for talented 16-year-old forward David McGoldrick.
Subject to passing a medical, the promising starlet will ink a deal with The Saints on Wednesday - with the St Mary's outfit to pay a compensation fee.
McGoldrick had trials with Blackburn, Fulham and Everton in the pre-season but has now elected to continue his football education on the South Coast.
The teenager, who made his senior County debut last season in the club's 2-1 defeat to Swindon, will link up with former strike partner Leon Best, who made a similar move last season.
Southampton are to pay a compensation fee, which has yet to be decided between the two clubs.
