Leeds chairman Gerald Krasner claims the board will insist on an option to buy back Elland Road should they agree the sale and lease of the ground.

The news that Leeds are prepared to become tenants rather than owners of the stadium will be another blow to the club's supporters, who have watched a long line of first-team players leave this summer in a bid to reduce the huge debts inherited from the previous board.

Leeds midfielder Eirik Bakke has reiterated his desire to remain at Elland Road despite again being linked with a move away.

Bakke has already been the subject of interest from both Crystal Palace and West Brom, and now Everton are the latest to apparently be keen on the Norway international.

But Bakke, currently on Leeds' pre-season tour in Sweden, is determined not to become a part of the exodus which has seen so many big-name players leave United in the summer.

Leeds teenager Simon Walton will not serve a suspension for a pre-season sending-off, the Football Association have confirmed.

The 16-year-old was dismissed for two cautions on his debut during the friendly against Valencia at Elland Road, in which he also scored his first goal for the club.

But the FA have revealed Walton is available for the Championship opener at home to Derby but will have to miss the reserves' clash against Aston Villa.

However, team-mate Simon Johnson will be banned for the games against Derby, Gillingham and Wolves following his red card for violent conduct in the reserves' draw against Scarborough last month.

Leeds have on Saturday evening made a third bid for striker David Healy as they intensify their efforts to sign Preston's Northern Ireland international.

Healy played 75 minutes of Preston's 1-0 defeat at Elland Road, producing a hard-working display despite the speculation that has surrounded the forward in the build up to this game.

Leeds, this week, made unsuccessful offers of 100,000 and 200,000, both rejected out of hand by the Preston board who signed Healy for 1.5million from Manchester United four years ago.

Healy, though, is out of contract next summer and is refusing to sign a new deal, and it seems only a matter of time before Leeds get their man.

Leeds are reported to have failed in a move for Everton striker Kevin Campbell.

Elland Road boss Kevin Blackwell has been scouring the transfer market in a bid to bring in a new striker.

Campbell is well down the pecking order at Goodison Park and Blackwell had hoped to lure him away with the promise of some first team action.

Everton are not willing to let him leave as they look to maintain their fine form in The Premiership.

Blackwell admitted he tried every avenue in a bid to bring in a new player.
