No doubt about it.

I think that Trek from the beginning was an intel op on many levels.

Roddenberry (sp?), was a strange character himself and If I am not mistaken has had mysterious connections too.

Besides the constant and obvious references to the future of humanity (which at times is very accurate in retrospect), we are also exposed to a very idealized socialistic future which many left-wingers find hughly appealing.

while this type of political and economic system may indeed come to pass and I am not debating the merits of it here, I find it annoying that this program is created in a capitalistic and democratic structure yet it rejects those precepts in its view of the future. Why is that the case?

i read in one interview with roddenberry that long before the original star trek series he had a dream where he saw all the ideas for star trek and that aliens also told him about some things like ( the comunicator=cellphone, phaser=laser gun, warp core=matter antimatter reactions) in those days that was all sci-fiction now its becoming sci-fact. who knows maybe one day our children will be flying off to strange new worlds etc.

Take no offence to this,
Me and some of my freinds decided to go drinking one day and went to a park, pulled out a bottle and started pouring shots.
One thing led to another and we were talking Star Trek, and being drunk, we came up with a conslusion that the characters seemed to resemble real life beings.
Well more so as the races resembled other races here on earth,

Vulcans-Buddhists
The federation-Christians
The bad ones....damn...I dunno what thier called, but thier really ugly...Muslims.

Im not trying to be racists, as One of my freinds was Muslim and the other was christian, and the rest were Sikhs, and some Hindus.
Buts thats what our drunk minds came up with that day.

Given the sad state of the Trek franchise today I would doubt anything can be read into it. But for the record - the Suliban are humanoid and have genetically modified themseleves acorfing to information provided to them by "future guy".

On the whole the series seems to be despised by trekkies/trekkers and the viewing public.

Yeah I have to agree, the vast majority of people I know prefer the original series over the rest of them.

zero deep i agree with you that beings in star trek are like religions vulcans are like buddists feds are christians the cardassians are extreme muslims and the ferengi ( i dont want to offend anyone but there are similarites) are jewish for their role in being the bankers of the universe. so i guess roddenberry maybe knew somehting that we didnt
