Glen Johnson's promoter says the IBF light heavyweight champion has no immediate plans to face Joe Calzaghe.
"Realistically speaking it's a dark horse in the immediate future," said Dan Goosen of a potential meeting.
Calzaghe defended his WBO super middleweight title for the 15th time on Friday, but the Welshman is desperate to move up a weight division.
Injury forced him to pull out of a June bout with Johnson, but Goosen said Calzaghe is a credible future opponent.
"In today's world, it's about the best fighting the best, titles or no titles," added Goosen.
"Calzaghe's got to set his sights on one of the top light heavyweights in the world. We had two fights that had to be postponed.
