Boxing: Fast threatens Salem's title bid

Kabary Salem's chances of dethroning WBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe have been hit by the challenger's religious commitments.

New York-based Egyptian Salem is a Muslim and has been fasting for the religious festival of Ramadan.

"He won't eat until the sun goes down," said trainer Nettles Nasser.

"I told him to eat for the week building up to the fight, but he won't. He's very into his religion and he will fast on Friday before the bout."
