It is better to convince someone do what you want than it is to try and force them.

Sure the aliens could land tomorrow and take over as that not so unrealistic film 'Mars Attacks' but there is two problems;

one, you lose a lot of what you came for, not good for business.

two, believe it or not, you greatly increase your chance of being defeated or failing.
