HBO Sports reported today that 1 million pay-per-view buys and $56 million in pay-per-view revenue was generated from last Saturday's undisputed world middleweight championship fight featuring Bernard Hopkins and Oscar De La Hoya at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The fight was promoted by Top Rank, Inc, and Golden Boy Promotions in association with MGM Grand Hotel & Casino.

In a fight which ranks 2nd only to De La Hoya vs. Felix Trinidad (Sept. 1999) on the all-time non-heavyweight pay-per-view charts, Hopkins and De La Hoya squared off with four world title belts on the line in their highly anticipated showdown. Hopkins, a native of Philadelphia, scored a
ninth round knock-out victory, marking the 19th successful consecutive title defense for the 39-year-old champ, who has re-ignited his career
when many are heading into retirement. The 1 million buys consisted of 600,000 buys from cable systems and 400,000 buys from satellite homes throughout the 50 states.
