Top promoter Frank Warren has urged Olympic sensation Amir Khan to cash in on his new-found fame sooner rather than later.

The 17-year-old from Bolton captured the nation's hearts when winning a silver medal in Athens and has vowed to go one better in Beijing in four years' time.

However, Sports Network supremo Warren believes Khan should turn professional instead, warning him: "You can't buy a house or feed your family with a gold medal."

Khan yesterday reiterated his desire to stay amateur, and has enlisted a team of prominent sports lawyers and managers to help realise his dream.

Khan's new team are only too aware of his marketability and the windfall they could achieve if he were to trade in his vest and headguard.
