Boxing: Promoter Sues Over Rights to William

The promoter of the Mike Tyson-Danny Williams bout is suing Williams' British promoter, claiming partial rights to promote future Williams fights.

Williams, who floored Tyson in the fourth round of their fight July 30 at Freedom Hall, is to fight in London on Oct. 9 for the vacant World Boxing Union heavyweight title. His likely opponent is Uzbekistan's Oleg Maskaev.

The suit was filed late last week in U.S. District Court in Louisville by Straight-Out Promotions, which promoted the Louisville fight. Defendants are British promoter Frank Warren; Sports & Leisure Boxing Ltd.; and Sports Network, a partnership between the two.
