So we learned this week that Chris Byrd is suing Don King in federal court in New York for $63 million - because Don King did not honor his contract of $2.5 million per fight (two fights per year).
But Byrd earned $1 million for Fres Oquendo and $900,000 for Golota. Okay, that's $1.9 million and $3.1 million short of the contracted $5 million...but Byrd did agree to those figures, signed those deals and fought the fights...and he seemed accepting with the reality that it was extremely difficult for King to get him work. Also, Byrd seemed quite content with King's promoting a week after the Golota fight when the IBF Heavyweight champ said on ESPN to Brian Kenny, "Don King is the man."
