Whispers have reached SecondsOut that long-reigning WBO super-middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe will indeed make the move up to light heavyweight in his next fight - and take on fellow Briton Clinton Woods in an IBF eliminator in September or October.
Calzaghe's promotional team Sports Network and Woods's Fight Academy set-up are said to be in on-going talks.
After a seven year reign as WBO 12stone (168lbs) champion, unbeaten Calzaghe has been anxious to move up 7lbs to the talent-laden light heavyweight division. However, circumstances conspired to derail his June IBF title shot v American Glen Johnson and the unbeaten Welshman was left without a sure-fire route to a second title in two weight divisions.
