Boxing: Boxing event to take center stage at AAC for first time

For the first time since its 2001 opening, American Airlines Center will host a boxing event.

On July 15, Miller Lite and Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions will present a six-bout card, one of 19 events on the Miller Lite Texas Title Belt professional boxing series. The bouts begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on HBO Latino.

This is the first time in two years the series will be in Dallas. A six-bout card was held June 11 at Sundance Square in Fort Worth.

"I've been trying to put a fight in [the AAC] since it opened," said Lester Bedford, a Fort Worth-based fight promoter.
