The International Swimming Federation, known by its French acronym FINA, Thursday reversed its decision to strip the world aquatics championships,
from Montreal and restored the five-sport event to the city.
At a board meeting in Frankfurt, the FINA members voted to take the new financial guarantees of Montreal mayor Gérald Tremblay ahead of new bids from
Athens, Berlin and Moscow. The cities had offered to salvage the championships after FINA lifted the meet from Montreal on Jan.
