The International Swimming Federation, known by its French acronym FINA, Thursday reversed its decision to strip the world aquatics championships,
from Montreal and restored the five-sport event to the city.
At a board meeting in Frankfurt, the FINA members voted to take the new financial guarantees of Montreal mayor GĂ©rald Tremblay ahead of new bids from
Athens, Berlin and Moscow. The cities had offered to salvage the championships after FINA lifted the meet from Montreal on Jan.
