Rugby league's flagship grassroots expansion competition, the Conference, looks set grow again next year with the addition of clubs from Scotland. The summer conference, which was launched in 1998 with 15 teams, has increased in size year by year and now contains 80 clubs from England and Wales.

Details are still be confirmed but Scotland Rugby League chairman Mark Dingwall said: "This is a wonderful development for the game in Scotland because it is going give us access to more competition and be part of one of the great success stories of British sport." Scotland RL today announced a new partnership with Network Rail and British Transport Police to promote rail safety, an arrangement worth 20,000 to the governing body.
