Michael Smith's future at St Helens is in jeopardy after only one match. The former New Zealand Test forward joined Saints from relegated Castleford
Tigers at the end of last season. But Smith, 28, has failed to settle at Knowsley Road and opted not to go on the club's pre-season training camp to
Portugal this week.
Saints wanted Smith to move to St Helens but he still lives in Hull and has found travelling a problem. He made his debut in the Boxing Day friendly
against Leigh but could now be leaving the club without playing a Super League match. The former Canterbury Bulldogs and Hull forward scored 34 tries
in 130 matches for Castleford before moving to St Helens.
A Saints spokesman said: "Michael is still contracted to us for two years until the matter is resolved."
