Australian half-back Brad Davis is set to become the oldest player to appear in Super League after completing his return to Castleford.
The former Wakefield captain, who celebrated his 36th birthday in March, will take over the record held by Paul Sterling, who was 36 years and 44 days
old when he played on the wing for Leeds against London in the last round of Super League 2000.
Davis, who began his English career with Nottingham in 1993, has spent the last eight months in France as player-coach of Villeneuve and was due to
join up with National League club Halifax.
The Tigers, bottom of Super League with only one win from 15 matches, have agreed to compensate Halifax financially for the loss of the playmaking
scrum-half and are likely to play him in Sunday's crunch clash with fellow strugglers Salford at the Willows.
