Arsene Wenger has begun his customary war of words with Sir Alex Ferguson by insisting Manchester United would have loved to achieve Arsenal's feat of an unbeaten league campaign.

Ferguson was reportedly underwhelmed by Arsenal's historic achievement last season, effectively accusing them of being lucky in several of their 12 draws, most notably at Old Trafford last autumn.

That was when Ruud van Nistelrooy missed a last-minute penalty, the closest Arsenal came to losing a league game all season.

Ferguson was evidently still not entirely convinced, but Wenger believes the United boss is in the clear minority ahead of this afternoon's Community Shield clash.
