Football: Gordon Taylor fears Drugs Witch Hunt

Players' union chief Gordon Taylor believes revelations over two unnamed members' positive tests for 'social' drugs will cause "hysteria" concerning their identities - and he has blasted the drug-testers for an "immediate breach of confidentiality".

It emerged two footballers tested positive for coc aine and ecstacy during the last three months when UK Sport, the body which carries out drug checks on behalf of the Football Association, published its quarterly results.

The players were among 272 from the Barclaycard Premiership, Football League and Conference tested between July 1 and September 30.

The FA have refused to confirm the identities of the two players involved in a scandal which comes in the wake of the discovery of designer steroid tetrahydrogestrinone (THG) in athletics and the Rio Ferdinand affair.
