shane hmeil has been suspended indefinetly for a positive test for a banned substance, this is the second time in less than 2 years he has failed the test, i would think that his racing career might be over, time for him to look for a new job

Please, can someone tell me what is banned under Nascar's drug policy and what was Shane accused of, or better, what was he found to have ingested that was illegal?

i dont' think that nascar has publicly released the list of banned drugs, from what i understand nascar became suspicious of him at richmond for some of his on track moves and decided to test him, the tests came back positive, as for what specificly is banned i don't know but i assume it would be the usual list of so called "recreational drugs"

a racetrack as well as the highway is no place to be under the influence, with your own life and the lives of others in your hands you need to have 100% control

I don't think NASCAR have released any of the official rules, regs and such like. Don't they make it up as they go along?

i have never seen a nascar rule book, i did a quick search last night but couldn't find anything online...they do change and adapt the rules as they go along, sometimes changing several times a season

okay, so banned or not. no one knows what "recreational" material is listed as a "no-no" by nascar. he could have had a large dose of nyquil the night before. that will get you testing positive on a breath test.

as for the nascar rule book, I beleive no one but the "inner circle" of drivers and owners is allowed to see it. I've been looking for years with no luck. nascar only puts out press releases stating what rule was broken and a brief synopsis of what the rule means. they probably have to sign a non disclosure agreement as well.

if it had simply been a dose of nyquil the night before i would think that he would be shouting from the rooftops, also i believe he admitted using drugs for his first suspension last year

as for the rule book there is one for sale on ebay, no idea if it is the complete rule book but it is a 2006 edition

unfortunately it looks like a 2005 rule book from the "Skip Barber" Dodge racing series. it says it is a Dodge racing rule book. no idea what that is, but for only a buck?, and has the Nascar imprint too. Confusing.

as for Shane, what ever he admitted to, he's thrown his whole career away if Nascar makes the suspension permanent. Too bad for his dad too. I'm sure Shane has gotten a few "up side the head" for this second "offense" from dad. There's enough turmoil behind DEI's doors, this won't help.

i don't know what that rule book is either, could be a dodge promotional give away or something of the sort. i would think that the official rule book would be quite a bit bigger than this one appears to be,

as for shane, he was living a dream, and was a sure bet to make the big show until he threw it all away, nascar escorting him from the track has to be the most devastating moment in this young mans life, his dad has his hands full over at the earnhardt garage and certainly didn't need this...a tragedy all around

aaahhhh, the dream. sometimes these kids, as do mine, get spoiled from all the stuff going on around them. silver spoons, might you say. well, I grew up with a plastic spoon, and my kids will learn too. there are some spoiled brats out there right now, racing with million dollar contracts. I've watched many a great racers kid come up through the ranks in all forms of racing, and it isnt anything like it was 20 years ago. too much money, and too much publicity and recognition. almost like being in the spotlight, and you have to perform, or you're gone.
