One poor person on a board I frequent posted on Monday that her 19 year old son died of the flu. He had been ill for days, when she went to wake him
up she found he had died in his sleep. I think that's every person's worst nightmare.
Thanks to modern medicine, this isn't as bad as the great influenza epidemics of the WWI era. I heard somthing on that once; about the number of
children orphaned by it, and it was a rather shocking number. We haven't seen a large (killer) epidemic in a century or so -- epidemics where one of
every three people in a city would die, or like the Black Plague, where 90% of the people in one area would die of it.

I think I must have come down with a minor case of it yesterday. My head hurt most of the day, but I thought it was just because I got up earlier
than usual. Throughout the day, I began to get more and more uncomfortable, my back and several joints getting achy... When I got home and washed
up, I started to really feel crappy. I felt so crappy that I didn't want to go practice with my band. My head was all wobbly and hot, it even hurt
some. So, I went to my room in the basement and leaned against the brick wall for a few hours to cool me down, I think it helped. I also smoked some
"herbal remedy." Today, I just feel like I might have a head cold or something...

Best thing to ever happen
I've never had a flu shot and about 2 years ago was the first time I had the flu (since childhood).
I was down for 3 days and could not eat, smoke etc. I was miserable.
Luckily, I was ickish feeling for a few weeks after that so I didn't want to smoke. The flu help me kick the habit and I have been smoke free for
almost 2 years.
Bad side....I couldn't eat taco bell for about a year either since it was the last thing I ate before getting sick. *lol*
