Smackdown for 9/23 opened with Vince McMahon welcoming us the the Season Premiere/5th Anniversary episode. A brand new Smackdown opening then aired.

Billy Kidman vs. Paul London. Last week's confrontation between the former tag champions was shown as Kidman came to the ring. London looked ready to fight, while Kidman looked depressed. The bell rang, and Kidman just walked out of the ring and down the aisle. London yelled at Kidman, and the referee started to count, and Kidman walked through the curtain. London was awarded the match on a countout. Winner: Paul London.

As soon as London was announced as the winner, Booker T came to the ring. London looked pleased at the chance to have some competition.
