World Wrestling Entertainment announced that the company has parted ways with long-time superstar Ron Simmons. On Aug. 2, 1992, Simmons beat Vader for
the WCW championship, becoming the first Afro-American world champion in wrestling history. He made his WWE debut in 1996 with manager Sunny as the
newest rival for superstar Ahmed Johnson, and later formed the Nation of Domination, which eventually included The Rock. Their feud over leadership of
the Nation served as a springboard for The Rock's popularity.
Simmon eventually teamed with Bradshaw to form the Acolytes, part of The Undertaker's Ministry of Darkness. Their biggest moment came in May of 1999
when they captured the WWE tag team titles. After the Ministry disbanded, the two changed their name to the Acolytes Protection Agency - APA. Simmons
and Bradshaw separated two years ago in the original WWE roster split - Bradshaw to Raw, Faarooq to SmackDown! - but were eventually reunited.
