Ohio State has just beat #1 ranked Illinois, who was undefeated at 29-0, by one in Columbus. They're storming the court. Unfortunately the Buckeyes are on probation and wont be going on to the tournament but a huge win nonetheless.

Matt Sylvester hit a three and Illinois missed their last shot that would have won it.

Illinois is perfect no more.

Ohio State reserve forward Matt Sylvester hit a 3-pointer with 5.1 seconds left on Sunday to hand the top-ranked Illini their first loss, 65-64.

The Illini (29-1, 15-1) were trying to cap the Big Ten's first unbeaten season in 29 years. Instead, they frittered away a 12-point lead in the second half and didn't score over the final 3 minutes.

Sylvester scored a career-high 25 points -- eight more than his previous best -- for a team that was banned by its own administrators from the postseason two months ago for alleged NCAA violations.

The last team to reach the NCAA tournament without a loss was UNLV in 1991.

What a crazy day in college hoops yesterday.

#1 Illinois lost, #3 Kentucky lost, #6 Duke lost, and #7 Kansas lost.

#4 Wake Forest barely slipped past Nort Carolina St.

No undefeated season, but they are still my favorite to win it all.

Some are saying that this was actually good for the Illini, by taking the pressure of an undefeated season off their shoulders through the tournament.

People say something to that effect every year. But how often is the last "defeated" team the eventual champion? Didn't happen last season, how about the year before?

You could argue either way.

You could say that it takes the pressure off and is positive or you could say that it hurts your confidence and is negative. It doesn't really matter, what matters is how they respond and play in the upcoming games.
