Should be a good showdown Friday night, Villanova vs North Carolina. It should be a great game, Nova is playing good basketball. They lost one of their key players to injury yesterday, we'll see how much it affects them.

Villanova's Sumpter done for tournament

Villanova forward Curtis Sumpter will miss the rest of the NCAA Tournament after a MRI exam Monday revealed he has a torn ligament in his left knee.

Sumpter was hurt in Villanova's second-round victory over Florida on Sunday, leaving the game after 12 minutes after scoring eight points and twice tumbling to the court and clutching his left knee. Sumpter, the team's second-leading scorer (15.3 points) and leading rebounder (7.2 rebounds) didn't play again, instead cheering his teammates on from the bench.

Villanova beat the fourth-seeded Gators 76-65 and advanced to its first regional semifinal since 1988. The fifth-seeded Wildcats will play No. 1 seed North Carolina on Friday night in Syracuse.

losing Sumpter is a huge loss for the wildcats, and a major gain for the tarheels. They should have an easy trip into the final four

you mean overall, or tonight? I think they have a better than average chance ot win tonight, Pitino is a great coach, and the one guy on that team was described by Pitino as the best he's ever coached...

but the champion will be Illinois. gotta be big 10.

Heeeeh! I totally suck at these bracket things. I probably shouldve gone with the cutest teams, right? Or... totally awesome names. Because I have to say, the Louisville/WVA game? Has the awesomely/amusingly named players (IMO). Theres... Kevin Pittsnogle, and Taquan Dean... and I swear there was some guy on one of these teams whose name sounded like carebear. which... Care Bears!

Sigh. It was really a disappointing ending to what was really a great season. Michigan State played well, with emotion. So kudos to them. Duke was visibly flat this game... but this certainly was a team with a lot of heart and fight so... that's what counts. It was really a privilege to watch. Now what am I going to do with my time? I'm not sure if I really want to throw my support behind anyone left. Maybe West Virginia?
PS... It makes me sad that ... other fans will rag on... well... Duke and its fans after a loss. It's unnecessary, and kinda mean, actually. I still dont understand (okay yes i do... Duke is Duke & you hate em or you love em... but still) why people would take time out of their lives to torment well... not only other people, but college aged kids. Anyway... again, a very big hand and a well played to Michigan State
