LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Steven Hakes stands at 3-under par through nine holes of the 50th USGA Senior Amateur. Saturday's first round was delayed at the outset two hours by fog, and was suspended for the day due to darkness.

With the fog delay, 75 players did not finish their rounds as play was suspended at 9:29 p.m. (ET). They will return to the course at 10:30 a.m. to complete their rounds.

Kent Christopher is one shot behind Hakes at minus-2 and is also through nine holes at Bel-Air Country Club.

Kemp Richardson, the defending champion, owns the clubhouse lead at 1-under-par 69. He is joined at minus-1 by Johnny Stevens and Jack Vardaman, who have each played nine holes.
