Jack Nicklaus has played just two PGA TOUR events this year and hasn't competed in an official tournament on either the Champions Tour or PGA TOUR since June, but he continues to factor into the outcome of tournaments at the game's highest level.

The vast majority of the world's top players head to Thomastown Co., Kilkenny, Ireland, for the season's third World Golf Championships event, the American Express Championship. The $7 million tournament is being contested on the Nicklaus-designed course at Mount Juliet Conrad, which he built in 1991 and is his only architectural effort in Ireland.
