Andy Roddick was forced to withdraw from his semi-final match against Kenneth Carlsen of Denmark in the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships at Memphis
with a sprained left ankle. The top seed injured the ankle during his quarter-final win over Robby Ginepri on Friday night and, after a brief warm-up,
Roddick knew he would not be able to play.
"The first move I made I just knew that it wasn't going to happen for me," Roddick said.
The American captured the SAP Open title last week in San Jose - his 16th career ATP Tour title.
Carlsen defeated America's Jan-Michael Gambill on Friday and now faces eighth-seeded Max Mirnyi of Belarus in the final on Sunday.
