Amelie Mauresmo became the first woman to book her place in the fourth round of the Australian Open on Friday. The second seed defeated Serbia's Ana Ivanovic 6-2 7-5 in Melbourne and will face Russia's Evgenia Linetskaya in the last 16.

Mauresmo surprisingly lost the opening set of her previous match against Dinara Safina - sister of men's fourth seed Marat Safin - but was always in control against the world number 82.

Does Amelie have any chance to win the Aussie open?

Gibbsy, you must make time for these things. They are important.

Mauresmo has had a history of pulling a Marty Shotenheimer in the semis and quarters. She rarely even makes it to the Finals in the Majors.

She seems to have the ability and the shots.

Ming suspects she may not be mentally tough enough. Just when she is playing really strong, smart tennis, she does an el foldo.

Just when you think she is someone who can compete with the other big woman hitters, like Serena and Venus, she stinks up the place. Too bad.

Actually, Ming likes her and wishes her well on this long journey we call life.

I've always liked her, and I'm not sure why.
