Thomas Johansson has battled through to the second round of the Thailand Open in Bangkok.

The unseeded Swede easily won the first set, only for Spanish No.6 seed Feliciano Lopez to do likewise in the second, but while Lopez held two match points in the decider, Johansson battled back to eventually prevail 6-1 2-6 7-6 (7-5).

"It was very close and it's not everyday you win when you're two match points down," Johansson said. "The first set I played well and he played bad. In the second (set) he played better and put more balls in the court."
