Wimbledon champion Roger Federer is one victory away from the perfect homecoming as he moved into the final of the Swiss Open in Gstaad with a
three-set triumph over Italian Potito Starace on Saturday.
Top seed Federer, who was born in Basle, triumphed 6-3 3-6 6-3 in a rain-interrupted encounter.
The win was Federer's 50th in 54 matches this year, making him the quickest to the half-century mark in a season since Ivan Lendl in 1989.
Federer will play the winner of the second semi-final, between third seed Rainer Schuttler, of Germany, and Russian Igor Andreev, in Sunday's
championship game.
