I once saw a parasite on a documentary that entered the human host by way of the mouth (i.e. contaminated food or water) and then traved to the lower legs (ankle/calf area) and developed into large wormlike creatures beneath the skin. The lower legs would burn and itch causing the infected humans to try and sooth their legs by standing in the nearby river, once submerged the worms would poke their "heads" out and sway in the river. The exposed length of the worms was up to 6+ inches in some cases!!! Very disgusting...I believe they were absorbing nourishment in one form or another when exposed to the water? I am pretty sure they were called Guinnea Worms...it was 10 years ago that I saw the program. Any one heard of these things? or know what I might be talking about?
