Basketball: Sixers center MacCulloch retires

Philadelphia 76ers center Todd MacCulloch has retired, the team announced Wednesday.

MacCulloch missed the entire 2003-04 season and nearly half of the previous campaign because of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, which disrupts his balance. He also suffers from foot neuropathy, for which he had tarsal tunnel release surgery on January 22.

A seven-foot native of Winnipeg, MacCulloch hasn't appeared in an NBA game since February 2, 2003.
