Coaches Terry Stotts of the Atlanta Hawks and Tim Floyd of the New Orleans Hornets were fired today by their National Basketball Associations teams.

Stotts, whose 137 games with Atlanta made him the longest- tenured coach in the Eastern Conference, was dismissed after the Hawks tied for the league's second-worst record at 28-54. Floyd, who just finished his first season in New Orleans, was fired three days after the Hornets were eliminated by Miami in the first round of the playoffs.

The Hawks and Hornets are now the only NBA teams without a coach. The Boston Celtics replaced interim coach John Carroll with Doc Rivers last week.

Floyd was off to a great start but never really had the respect of his players and they collapsed after the All-Star break....

Whoever coaches Atlanta I feel sorry for...that franchise seems to be in eternal rebuilding mode....
