How about the Dallas Mavericks collapse here?

It looks like theyre going to go from the best record in the N.B.A. for most of the year to a first round exit by the L.A. Lakers.

As I've said in other posts they can't beat other competing teams in the west. They are still good, albeit overated a tad.

its seems like all of a sudden the only thing that the Mavs now how to do is two lose. They started the season strong and they are finsihing not as strong, is this a sign of things to come?

Could be.

They did the same thing last season. They didnt finish the regular season strong.

Wouldn't it be fitting if the Mavericks became the first team to blow a 3 to 0 lead in a Best-of-Seven series and lose in 7 games to the Trail Blazers?

That would really put a stamp on their soft label.

On Friday, the Mavericks found their replacement for Nick Van Exel and his name is Travis Best.

Last I heard, not bad.

But being a Kings' fan and knowing about Chris Webber's "minor" ankle sprains, you can never be too sure about these things.

ESPN

Dirk Nowitzki injured his left ankle Sunday night while playing a game for Germany, but theDallas Mavericks said Sunday that their star did not suffer bone or ligament damage.

The German team has the next two days off before practicing again on Wednesday. The next game is Friday, but there is no immediate word whether Nowitzki will be able to play.

The Mavericks said Nowitzki's injury isn't expected to be a lengthy one, and that he will not miss the start of training camp next month.

The German Basketball Federation paid a big insurance premium to gain a release from the Mavericks that would allow him to play for Germany.

Seems he is going to be ok, at least it wont be a mystery like Webber's injury, we'll know since he's supposed to be playing for the German national team.

Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki said Monday from Germany that the ankle sprain he suffered in a weekend exhibition game should not affect his participation in next month's European Championships.

Nowitzki has missed a handful of games the past two seasons because of similar ankle sprains. An MRI exam after Sunday's sprain revealed no bone or ligament damage.

Steve Nash hurt his shoulder last night in the loss at Washington.

Now that's where the Nick Van Exel injury really hurts them.
