American Football: Chris Simms in stable condition after surgery

Tampa Bay quarterback Chris Simms is listed as being in stable condition after surgery last night to remove his ruptured spleen. Simms took several hard shots in the Buccaneers' game against Carolina, but he was still in the game in the fourth quarter after taking a quick trip to the locker room. Right now no one is certain what shot caused the damage--or at least initiated the problem. The Bucs are now 0-3 and without their starting QB. Rookie Bruce Gradkowski will be the starter this week. Simms was getting lauded in the preseason, but his performances this season so far were not stellar. Tampa Bay is in a tough division, and now they're really in the hole. Is it time for them to look toward next season?

To answer your question, not yet. See what happens in the coming week. Anything is possible in the NFL, this rookie can do some good things. Not likely, but give the kid a chance.

Is there any update on his condition? If simms will play, is there to be blame put on him for the 0-3 start? Or did he do as much as he could in his poisiton.

There is some blame that can be put on him, but the big factor is that the O line in Tampa just sucks, mainly due to injury.
