The Globe's Nick Cafardo reports that Ty Law may not be back with the Patriots next season. Law's $13 million cap number for 2005 will likely put him on the cutting block.

Law has heard the whispers that perhaps he has played his final game in a Patriots uniform. He has a year remaining on his contract at $9.6 million, with a salary cap number that approaches $13 million. Some were surprised that Law was kept on the books for nearly a $10 million cap hit this season, but with the depth at cornerback, the team decided to keep Law for his 10th season.

Ming believes Law will be gone.

The Pats have done reasonably without him and he has become expendable, particulalrly with the money involved.

Many thought the Pats would not survive after the loss of Lawyer Milloy. Wrong. Likewise, they will survive woithout Ty Law, although he is a great player.

Ming thanks him for his past work.
