Steelers-Dolphins game could be moved because of hurricane threat

September 23, 2004
MIAMI (AP) -- The Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers were investigating the possibility of moving their game up one day to Saturday because of the looming Hurricane Jeanne.

The Steelers will fly to South Florida on Friday, one day ahead of their typical travel schedule.

Dolphins spokesman Harvey Greene said no decision would be made before Friday morning.

Hurricane Jeanne may hit Florida's east coast this weekend.

The Dolphins' season opener against Tennessee was affected by Hurricane Frances; it was pushed ahead one day to Saturday because of the storm's anticipated arrival. The Titans beat the Dolphins 17-7.

``Living in South Florida, we've seen first hand how dangerous a hurricane can be and we take any threat seriously,'' Dolphins president Eddie Jones said. ``We have been in contact with the appropriate local authorities and the NFL and public safety remains the most important element of our decision-making process as we monitor the storm.''
