The Cowboys may have to go shopping for a guard to replace Larry Allen. Sources told the Dallas Morning News's Jean-Jacques Taylor that Allen is unlikely to return to the Cowboys next season.

Brett Favre's status is complicating the Packers' contract talks with QB Tim Couch. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Tom Silverstein reports that Couch may balk at joining the Packers if he thinks that he will have to sit behind Favre for more than a year or two.

The Redskins are hoping that free agent Warrick Holdman will agree to be their new weakside linebacker. Sources told the Washington Times's Mark Zuckerman that Holdman has received two contract offers from the Redskins.

The Denver Post's Adam Schefter reports that Broncos linebacker Ian Gold visited with the Saints yesterday. The Falcons, Lions and Bears are also believed to be interested in Gold.

The Jacksonville Times-Union's Bart Hubbuch reports that the Jaguars have shown a "keen interest" in USC receiver Mike Williams. The Jags have the ninth overall pick in the draft and are thinking about selecting a wideout.

The Bears may use their first-round pick to select Miami defensive tackle Vince Wilfork. The Chicago Sun-Times's Mike Mulligan reports that the Bears brought Wilfork to Halas Hall yesterday for an "extensive interview".

The Boston Herald's Michael Felger reports that coach Bill Belichick has denied talk that the Patriots have a deal in place with the Lions for Detroit's first-round pick. The Patriots are rumored to be interested in Miami safety Sean Taylor.
