The Russian leader said at a European Union summit in Brussels that western civilisation faced a mortal threat from Muslim terrorists, and claimed that they had plans to create a "worldwide caliphate".

He also told a bolshie reporter to get circumcised and join the Muslims, Thomas: "feisty" is I believe the word for Vlad of late.
Once we have recovered from the shock of an ex-KGB, neo-Stalinist, goon defending our common heritage, I think we can at least consider the timing of this (and compare it to Russia's "official" posture during the UN Resolution "debate" (Estragon uses the word in recent-poster-speak), there is the posibility of using that long lost word "conspiracy" here. Why would Putin say this now -just as the 30-day wheeze takes effect, and just after the rum business at the Nord-Est Theatre in Moscow.
In effect, he is supporting GWB - why?

"Privately, EU diplomats said Mr Putin was playing the al-Qa'eda card for all it was worth, seeing it as a useful way to create a sense of common purpose with the West and heighten the strategic value of Russia."

this sounds about right. whilst bush has his little war in iraq to keep him in power, putin wants his in chechnya. you can compare the statement to several from sharon as he ordered attacks on palestinians.

- qo.

It's "funny ". Since the fall of the former communist USSR, we don't hear any pro-Russian voices in the EU anymore.

When the commies were ruling Russia, in the EU, we had many peoples who were pro-Russia.

Since the commies have been kicked out, those who were pro-Russia in the EU are now pro-Islam-Palestine-terrorists-Chechenya and anti-Russia/Putin.

Do you know what ? They are the same.Yes, before, they were pro-USSR, and now, they are pro-Islam.

"Humanists " & " do love but not wars " peoples are really weirds.
