September 14, 1968 > Denny McLain of the Detroit Tigers defeats the Oakland A's, 5-4, to become the Majors' first 30-game winner since Dizzy Dean in 1934. McLain will finish at 31-6 with a 1.96 ERA, and unanimously win the AL MVP and Cy Young Awards. He remains the last pitcher to win 30 games in one season.
