sounds like a good deal for both teams, the phillies get another quality closer

News
The Phillies traded infielder Placido Polanco to the Tigers on Wednesday for relief pitcher Ugueth Urbina and infielder Ramon Martinez.

Views
Polanco had fallen out of favor for the starting second base job with the strong play of Chase Utley and Urbina will be a solid addition to a bullpen that has been far from flawless. Urbina has a 1-3 record, nine saves, a 2.63 ERA, and 1.28 WHIP in 25 games this season. At this point, he will be the setup man for closer Billy Wagner and a solid option to pick up spot saves when Wagner needs rest. Fantasy owners should be assured, it's highly unlikely the move shifts the positional controversy they had at second base to closer position

Tough to see Polly go, he's played very well for the Phillies since coming over in the Scott Rolen deal. He gives his all every time he plays and comes through with some clutch hits but we really needed bullpen help and Utley's play has earned him the every day second base position. I think Polly wil be happy knowing that he'll be playing everyday and Urbina gives the Phils a solid set-up man for Billy Wagner.

The Detroit Tigers reportedly had no choice but to trade reliever Ugueth Urbina after he drank too much and fought with teammates on the team flight to Los Angeles last Sunday night, according to an initial report by Michigan's Booth Newspapers.
