ichiro has averaged 680.5 at bats in his major league career, in order for him to hit 400 with his average at bats he would need at least 272 hits this year, yesterday he had 2, and in 2 at bats tonight he has 1 hit..3 for the season so far, 269 to go :party-smiley-018:

Do you think he'd sit out if he's close?

yes, he set the record for most hits in a season last year, and no if he was close i think that he would go out and play

For the record, Ichiro is admist a 17-game hitting streak. He ended last season with a 13-game streak and has hit safely in all 4 games so far this season.

He's hitting .533 after four games.

Ichiro Suzuki, who set the major-league season record last year with 262 hits, was 0-for-4 and failed to hit safely for the first time in 20 games since Sept. 19 against Oakland. He reached in his first at-bat on a throwing error by third baseman Tony Graffanino. Suzuki's .240 career average in Kansas City is his lowest in any major-league park.

Rest of Story

Ichiro hits a rare homerun this afternoon, actually it was the first at-bat of the game. Rickey Henderson was great at leading games off with HR's, I think he holds the record.

He's 2 for 3 today, and most likely wont get another at-bat. Also has a stolen base and scored twice.

His average is now at .447.

I realize that it's early, but sho is leading the batting average right now?

Edgardo Alfonzo is leading with a whopping .459 followed by Brian Roberts with .444.. Ichiro only ranks 3rd at the moment with .432..

Ichiro's average has dropped alarminly the last few days. 3 hits in the last 21 at bats has contributed to that. It also doesn't help that Seattle have lost their last 2 games. So a drop in form all round..
