ok so heres the deal, will lasers and pulse and particle weaponry ever become realistic on this planet? i mean i know there are lasers to shoot down aircraft in an instant using heat and the star wars project or SDF first brought about in the mid 80's although shutdown. but i read in ATS that there is a battle station in space with lasers on it which provides america with the ultimate protection from nuclear threat. is this true? does anyone have anymore info to back this up?

The "theory" exists. Currently the problem is power. Until this problem is solved neither weapon is practical. As breakthroughs in power cell technology happen you will begin to see particle beam weapons and advanced laser technology deployed.
