Yankees: Brown to go under knife

News
Kevin Brown will have surgery on his left hand on Sunday, according to published reports. He broke the fifth metacarpal bones in his non-throwing hand Friday night after hitting a wall in frustration. Furthermore, the team is reportedly reviewing Brown's contract to determine if a self-inflicted injury might void the guaranteed portion of Brown's seven-year, $105 million deal.

The Yankees are obviously not happy with Brown. He was struggling along with the rest of the Yankee starters, but he is also a big-game pitcher that the Bronx Bombers will sorely miss. Their best option to replace Brown in the rotation, should a replacement be required, would probably be Esteban Loaiza, who was acquired at the trade deadline and has made a habit of being booed off the mound after poor performances ever since donning the pinstripes
