Randy Johnson looks to join some elite company tonight, he needs 8 k's to reach 4,000 for his career. I think there's only 4 other players in that club, I know Lefty Carlton and Nolan Ryan eclipsed 4000.

Think he'll do it?? I do, he probably averages over 8 k's a game anyway.

When did the Rocket pass Steve Carlton. I always thought that they were 1-2 followed by the Big Unit??

Clemens better stumble upon the fountain of youth before even thinking of catching Nolan Ryan.

After 4 innings, Unit has 4 k's.

Just 4 to go!!

4th player ever with 4000, what an achievement!

And he has 4 NL Cy Young awards, although he's making a case for a fifth.

Is this my 4th post in this thread?

6 innings complete, Big Unit has 6 k's.

2 more to the big 4000.

The 40-year-old left-hander, who has led the league in strikeouts nine times in his career, is currently first in the majors this season with 121 going into tonight.

Randy is also 13-2 with a 2.12 ERA in 20 career games against the Padres.

After 7 innings, Unit has 7 k's.

3999, just one more to go.

The thing is that his team is down by one and he's to bat second in the bottom of the 7th. If the leadoff batter gets on, do you pinch-hit for him because you're down a run or do you leave him in because he is a strikeout away from history? I think they should leave him in either way, if the guy gets on then just have Randy bunt.

Congrats Randy Johnson!

Jeff Cirillo was the lucky batter.

Hey that is huge 4,000. Great stuff. How long will he keep pitching for? He looks like he is quite old.

Dont forget the Rocket is still pitching too, as a matter of fact he had 6 k's this afternoon vs the Cubbies.
