Reports out of New York suggest the Yankees are back in the hunt for Pirates pitcher Kris Benson.Owner George Steinbrenner reportedly asked management to look into acquiring Benson, who will be a free agent at the end of the season.

Presumably, the Yankees didn't scout Benson's start Saturday night when he couldn't protect a 4-0 lead and allowed 12 hits and six earned runs in five innings. Benson, whose $6.1 million contract the Pirates would love to unload, is 2-1 with a 3.91 ERA after four starts

i don't think the Yankees need another pitcher, they need to get a fire lit under the asses of their position players so they get some hits and score some runs. with as much power as they have in their lineup, even if their pitching is giving up 5 or 6 runs a night they should still win. time to break out the fines for under performance.
