A's deny Giambi rumors

The San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser and Brian Murphy report that the A's have denied rumors that they are trying to re-acquire Jason Giambi. There was talk that the A's were willing to swap Tim Hudson for Giambi.

Yankees could deal for Benson or Sheets

The Yankees may trade for another starting pitcher. A source told the Newark Star-Ledger's Dan Graziano that both the Pirates' Kris Benson and the Brewers' Ben Sheets are on the Yankees' wish list.

Is Pirates' Mondesi ready to bolt?

The Pittsburgh Tribune Review's Rob Biertempfel reports that Raul Mondesi has backed off on a threat to walk out on the Pirates. Modesi told a reporter yesterday that he was ready to bolt the team if they didn't pay him the money he was owed by April 30.

Mets may sign Cuban pitchers

The Bergen Record's Jorge Arangure Jr. reports that the Mets may be interested in signing Cuban pitchers Alay Soler and Roberto Sotolongo. The Red Sox and Yankees may also enter the hunt for the pair.

Mets to give coaches more time

Although the Mets have struggled mightily at the plate, they aren't ready to fire hitting instructor Denny Walling. A source told the Newark Star-Ledger's David Waldstein that the Mets are planning to give their coaching staff more time to turn the team around.
